Following the jazz-influenced concepts of the 1960's Brazilian bossanova innovator Sergio Mendes, Trio de Janeiro has a bossanova sound based around the piano (instead of guitar), and a repertoire that draws not only from the Brazilian classics, but also 1960's songwriters such as Lennon-McCartney and Bacharach-David, as well as select jazz standards.
